Indie radio rocks unsigned music artists into the spotlight

Want to get your music on the radio? Indie music radio stations are a great way to get your music blasted across the airwaves. In spite of the digital music download craze, radio continues to provide a way for new artists to get heard by a huge audience. Increase your fan base, increase your digital music sales, yes?

While perusing my indie radio station list on Twitter, I decided to visit a few of the station websites to see who's accepting new music submissions. Of  course, being a lil' woman with a big mouth, I want to share the results with you and thousands of other internet geeks like us. #ROTFL

So, here are links to 5 indie radio station's online music submission guidelines. Indie radio rules, so please get your music out there and rock the ass off the world. There are 32 indie music radio stations on my Twitter/Indie Radio list so be sure to subscribe to the list, check out all the stations, and follow them on Twitter. You'll find a lot of places to get your music heard with free or inexpensive submission fees.

Keep submitting your music until someone plays it. If you're having a hard time getting radio airtime for your music consider re-writing and/or collaborating with another artist to give your song a fresh new spin. Maybe your song is musically powerful and lyrically tight with a genuine, radio ready hook, but merely needs a few tweaks. If you think it might help you could consider working with a music arranger. Just don't give up on your dream. Be a part of #musicalmayhem and collaborate with other #wiseassbands.

Above all else try to remember the immortal words of Katharine Hepburn who said, "Your helping hands are at the ends of your arms."

Exposed Vocals music video update

 

ExposedVocals.com is still delivering

One week ago I checked the ExposedVocals.com website to see if my music video, "The Rain God Song", had any views. To my surprise (and delight) I found out that 262 people watched the video without me promoting it at all. Realizing I found a great way to connect to new fans, I started sharing links to the video on Facebook and Twitter and posted it here on the blog. And guess what? As of this morning 345 people have watched my video and heard my song.

Originally I posted the video of "The Rain God Song" on YouTube. I shared the YouTube link on my social pages several times and got like 38 views. About a week later I posted a the YouTube link on ExposedVocals.com and 262 people watched it. Right now I have 345 video views at Exposed Vocals. But I only have 147 YouTube views, even though I shared the YouTube link more. That's a HUGE difference.

Being a curious sort of indie musician, I want to (need to, have to) know. So, of course I want to know why so many more people are watching my video at Exposed Vocals. After all, YouTube is THE video platform, right? The best course of action for me has always been to go to the Source. Naturally, I decided to ask the founder of Exposed Vocals, Randy Morano (follow @Randy Morano), the "Questions".

Viral music video marketing. What a concept! While searching for inexpensive, fun ways to promote my music video, "the Rain God song", I found another great service on Twitter, @Virool. Check out Virool.com, a great source for views. If you've uploaded a video anywhere on the web you probably already know that no one will watch the video unless you find a way to get it in front of them. Let's face it, you can have the best or worst music video ever, but if no one is sees it you're wasting your time.

You don't have to spend a fortune for music promotion

For an indie musician on a limited budget,Virool.com is a really cool service because you can spend as little as $10 for 1000 people to watch your music video. The service is similar to Google Ads targeted advertising. If you're an advertiser you pay Google to have people place your ads on their websites and blogs. Google Ads picks up the content of the website or blog and displays ads that are relevant to the content. If you're a surfer visiting websites and blogs you sometimes click the links.

Get targeted views for your music video

Virool.com uses the same concept to guarantee views for your music video. Not only do they guarantee views, they place your video in front of people who want to watch music videos. Twenty days ago I was fortunate enough to get followed on Twitter @traceylynmelody by @RandyMorano and @ExposedVocals of exposedvocals.com. After the customary Twitter follow back, I visited the Exposed Vocals website. Lucky break for me. I found out Exposed Vocals goes way beyond a simple social video platform for indie music. In the past twenty days my music video "The Rain God Song" got 262 views and today isn't over yet.

How did I get the music video noticed? 

 

Guess what? I didn't do anything really. I haven't promoted my Exposed Vocals profile, Tracey Lynn Melody's Music Page or "The Rain God Song" video. At all. Until today I haven't promoted it or shared one link to it. The website is simple to use so I was able to quickly create a profile then copy and paste my YouTube video URL. Next thing I know there's 260 views on the music video. Cool beans, huh?

What's on my mind...indie music

Indie music. Always what's on my mind. I haven't been posting to this blog much. I've been using wordpress and have a decent little blog there called Indie Music Power. I like Blogger because it's flexible and easy to use. So after coming back to take a look I realized I have a pretty decent little blog started here, too. It needs more peeks and tweaks and a lot better arrangement. So stay tuned while I find more places to get free stuff for your band, free social websites to connect you with your fans, get radio airplay, etc. I'm just into sharing all the indie music help I find while I'm searching for my own musical niche.
